Dulles,
VA. November 12, 2003 – Encore Networks,
a developer of integrated IP+Legacy Virtual
Private Network (VPN) security solutions,
today announced the release of its IP
operating software, ELIOS™ 4.0 . Available
immediately, ELIOS™ 4.0 supports a common
feature set across all platforms of the
entire Encore Networks BANDIT™ IP+Legacy
product line, a family of uniquely versatile
VPN gateways that provides IP routing,
QoS, stateful inspection, firewall, IP
VPN functionality, dial backup, and extensive
legacy data protocol support.
With the enhanced list of legacy protocols
and new features added to ELIOS™ 4.0
, carriers now have the ability to converge
additional legacy networks to a single
core IP network, providing new revenue
sources in secure, multi-service solutions.
Global enterprise customers can seamlessly
migrate legacy networks to broadband
IP VPN services providing converged applications,
including voice, data, security, and
VPNs over a single network connection.
Satellite users can realize significant
improvements in performance of key applications
over satellite networks such as e-mail,
Internet access and file transfers.
The new software enhancements and product
features of the ELIOS™ 4.0 operating
system include:
Remote Data Unit (RDU)
This 12-port high-density serial module
is primarily used for host applications.
Along with the BANDIT™ - Plus , the
Remote Data Unit provides a high performance,
multi-service IP+Legacy VPN host solution,
or high-density remote deployments.
Given its port density, the RDU can
support up to hundreds of remote locations
in various applications such as Lottery,
Point-of-Sale, SCADA and ATM banking.
The flexibility of its architecture
allows for the provisioning of different
applications on different ports (Any
Service Any Port) whether the application
is synchronous or asynchronous based,
while migrating them simultaneously
to broadband IP.
Enhanced List of Legacy Protocol support
ELIOS™ 4.0 not only enhances the library
of legacy protocols that are currently
supported by the BANDIT™ product lines,
but also expands Encore's reach into
additional vertical markets such as
Satellite, Banking, international and
government. The list of additional
legacy protocols supported by ELIOS™
4.0 includes AX.25, MATIP airline reservation
protocol, Bisync and Poll-Select.
SLE™ Implementation
Another innovative feature supported
by ELIOS™ 4.0 is an enhanced implementation
of Encore Network's patented breakthrough
Selective Layer Encryption (SLE™) protocol.
This enhancement provides a broader
interoperability between Encore IP+Legacy
VPN product lines and various satellite
modem and VSAT terminal vendors. The
enhanced SLE™ capability allows Satellite
Networks Operators (SNO's) and equipment
vendors to offer their end users high
performance end-to-end broadband IP
VPN solutions with no performance degradation.
Improved Network monitoring and Stats
collection
ELIOS™ 4.0 further enhances the built-in
capability of stats collection, traps
generation and problem isolation tools
in the BANDIT™ product lines. Such enhancements
cover incremental features and applications
such as IPsec and GRE tunnels, DHCP (Client,
Server and Relay), SLE™, MATIP and AX.25.
This provides carriers with the means
to support managed network services and
offer guaranteed service level agreements
(SLAs) in different vertical markets
International Features
The enhanced international features allow
Encore to expand globally with its
rich IP+legacy VPN solutions. Such
features include Nx64/E1 module and
2E1 port module with Drop & Insert
functionality for integrated support
of voice, data and VPN applications.
Abir Hnidi, Encore's Chief Technical
Officer said, “With The latest ELIOS
operating system software release, Encore
Networks continues to raise the competitive
bar and distance itself from the rest
of the crowd.” Added Hnidi, “The capabilities
and enhanced features introduced in ELIOS
release 4.0 allows Encore to expand its
targeted market footprint both domestically
and internationally”. |
