Dulles,
VA and Los Gatos CA, November 29, 2004 – Encore Networks, a leading developer
of integrated converged Virtual Private
Network (VPN) security solutions, and
Hifn™ (Nasdaq: HIFN), a network security
and flow classification market leader,
today announced the inclusion of the
Hifn 7956 security processor in Encore’s
recently announced VSR-1200™ High Performance
VPN router.
Hifn, headquartered in Los Gatos, California,
designs, develops and markets high-performance,
multi-protocol packet processors, semiconductor
devices and software that enable secure,
high-bandwidth network connectivity and
efficient storage of business information.
Hifn’s 7956 security processor is designed
to meet the requirements of high bandwidth
secure networking applications. This
security engine in the VSR-1200™ accelerates
a variety of IPsec, and SSL/TLS protocols
including DES, Triple DES, AES (128,
192, and 256-bit, with counter mode support),
MD5, SHA-1, true Random Number Generation,
and Public Key. The Hifn processor contains
protocol support for SRTP, VoIP, and
WLAN (TKIP/ CCMP). In addition, the integral
high-speed compression engine makes it
ideal for optimizing the performance
of applications running over wireless
or satellite networks.
“Encore’s VSR-1200™ enables both terrestrial
and satellite carriers as well as systems
integrators to rollout value-added secure
broadband services that can compete effectively
against alternative broadband technologies,”
said Glenn Haley, Product Line Manager
of Hifn. “With organizations of all sizes
adding broadband access to their networks
at an increasing rate, Encore’s VSR-1200™
delivers secure solutions that guarantee
the best possible performance.”
Encore Network’s VSR-1200™ is a versatile
multi-service VPN router that provides
satellite, terrestrial and hybrid broadband
networks with secure converged solutions.
The VSR-1200™ enables satellite users
requiring end-to-end VPN connections
and legacy to IP convergence to realize
the full potential of their limited satellite
bandwidth without the performance degradation
associated with traditional IPsec VPN
products. Encore Networks’ patented Selective
Layer encryption (SLE) provides robust
IP VPN solutions over satellite networks
that are accelerated by Performance Enhancing
Proxy (PEP) solutions. Multiple VSR-1200™
units can be interconnected together
for load-sharing and higher level of
redundancy. Applying Virtual Redundant
Router Protocol (VRRP), the multiple
VSR-1200’s become a redundant, high-performance
VPN router.
“Ease of integration, performance acceleration
and cost-effectiveness are key drivers
behind Encore’s decision in adopting
Hifn’s security products,” stated Abir
Hnidi, Encore Networks Chief Technical
Officer. “The Hifn 7956 is essential
for the compact and economical security
solution offered by the VSR-1200 for
high-volume, encrypted data communications
traffic across satellite, terrestrial
and hybrid networks.” |
