VA. November 28, 2005 – Encore Networks,
a leading developer of Virtual Private
Network (VPN) solutions, today announced
that iDirect Technologies has certified
Encore as an application partner in its
IP Alliance Program™. iDirect tested
Encore’s BANDIT™ and VSR™ platforms for
interoperability over their IP satellite
modems. The BANDIT™ product line offers
end-to-end VPN router solutions and support
for legacy data protocols, while the
VSR™ products offer IP only interfaces.
iDirect created the IP Alliance Program™
to better meet the application and networking
needs of its customers by bringing together
the best technology providers in the
industry.
“This testing performed for the IP Alliance
shows that the iDirect VSAT platform
will support Encore’s suite of VPN products
which provide a vast array of router-based
solutions that support current and emerging
broadband applications,” stated Matthew

Development. “The IP Alliance will promote
the sharing of technical information
as well as interoperability testing to
provide certified network solutions.”
Encore’s network security products are
versatile IP+Legacy and IP only VPN appliances
that provide enterprise data networks
support for IP VPN’s, stateful inspection,
firewall, IP routing and QoS, legacy
data protocol convergence, and Encore’s
patented Selective Layer Encryption (SLE).
SLE enables satellite users, requiring
secure access, to realize the full potential
of their limited satellite bandwidth
without the typical performance degradation
associated with other IPsec VPN solutions.
Through the use of SLE, Encore can provide
channel efficient VPN solutions across
Performance Enhancement Proxy (PEP) based
accelerated satellite networks and seamlessly
connect to terrestrial VPN networks without
the need to decrypt and switch traffic
at the satellite hub.
