Basking
Ridge, N.J. & Chantilly, VA. - January
17, 2012 - Verizon Wireless
and Encore Networks today announced the
availability of Machine-to-Machine (M2M)
solutions, and Legacy protocol conversion
to IP over the private, secure Verizon
Wireless 2G and 3G networks. Collectively
the two companies will offer Encore's
entire BANDIT™ line of commercial and
ruggedized IP+Legacy™ enterprise routers,
including the C2C™, a low-cost, embedded
replacement of Plain Old Telephone Services
(POTS) copper lines with advanced IP
applications over cellular.
Encore's C2C™ router provides IP interworking,
supporting analog modem interfaces or
Ethernet connections in a single box
solution. The C2C™ was designed for legacy
applications that currently depend on
POTS analog telephone lines terminating
on Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) with
embedded analog modems. These applications
include Automated Teller Machines (ATM),
Point-of-Sale (POS), elevators, vending
machines and kiosks, healthcare and more.
By moving to an IP cellular infrastructure,
customers remove their dependence on
copper lines currently being phased out
and limited in services.
"M2M is experiencing tremendous
growth as it becomes more widely adopted
across many different industries," said
Peter Madsen, President and CEO of Encore
Networks. "By working with Verizon
Wireless, we are able to execute on our
business vision and deploy the right
M2M solutions."
Encore will also market the BANDIT™ family of rugged enterprise routers designed
for SCADA and other harsh network environments.
Used in locations where environmental
controls are limited such as power distribution
sub-stations, refineries and transportation
applications, the BANDIT™ ensures secure,
high throughput data networking connections
directly to the Verizon Wireless cellular
network. Utility companies throughout
North America use the BANDIT™ for secure
control and monitoring SCADA applications.
"Many enterprises currently are
looking to shift their existing copper
lines and migrate to a more reliable
advanced IP technology," said Michael
Toto, director - enterprise and government
partnerships, Verizon Wireless. "With
their M2M centric technology, Encore
Networks has the right approach to enable
a seamless conversion and management
of the connections."
