QUICK
II TermRouter Product Overview
|
|
|
|
Banks
and financial institutions can save money
by connecting ATM terminals over IP/FrameRelay
networks instead of using costly leased lines.
Upgrading network equipment to interface directly
with IP networks no longer needs to be a deterrent
to quick and affordable deployment. The Encore
Networks Quick II TermRouter is
the perfect low-cost solution for managing
secure high-density, multi-protocol networks
under a single seamless IP transport.
The Quick II with
its multi-functional design provides outstanding
support for aggregating legacy Unisys TC500
Poll Select devices into an IP WAN/LAN
environment. The Quick II eliminates
the need for parallel WAN connections by
supporting both legacy TC500 Poll Select
terminals and LAN/WAN traffic.
Using standard TDI or
RS-232 interfaces, terminals, printers,
check sorters, ATM machines, and controllers
easily plug into the Quick II for
Frame Relay or X.25 access to a central
site. The Quick II's
Poll Select-to-IP protocol conversion reduces the high
cost of maintenance while ensuring that bandwidth efficiency
is maximized. The Quick II provides transparent access for
legacy and LAN traffic onto a single WAN transport, eliminating
the hassle and cost of upgrading the Unisys host to handle
multiple protocols.

|
| BANDWIDTH MANAGEMENT |
The Quick II satisfies
bandwidth management requirements of 9.6 kbps
and 1.54 Mbps over leased line or Frame Relay
circuits. Each Frame Relay link supports up
to 105 DLCIs with adjustable bandwidth. When
integrating both legacy and LAN traffic into
the Quick II, mission-critical financial
data is given priority bandwidth allocation
via a MaximumPRIORITY level established
between TC500 Poll Select and standard LAN
traffic. |
|
| INVESTMENT PROTECTION |
The Quick II TermRouter brings
new life to TC500 Poll Select legacy devices,
and offers a forward migration into IP routing
quickly, easily, and inexpensively. The Quick

|
| PROTOCOL CONVERSION |
The Quick II can
act as the protocol converter for legacy equipment
on a LAN where applications require standard
TC500 Poll Select-to-IP protocol conversion.
Converted traffic crosses the LAN as IP data,
and is then forwarded to the default router
before finally being sent to a central site.
In addition to TC500 Poll Select, each Quick
II is equipped to handle Bit-Sync and
Byte-Sync encapsulation, Async, Bisync (2780/3780),
SLIP, and Telnet, as well as other protocols.
This ability provides added value when integrating
sophisticated networks on a site-by- site
basis for LAN/WAN and Legacy
applications. |
|
| NETWORK SECURITY |
Protecting assets is
what the Quick II is all about. IP spoofing,
Network Address Translation (NAT), and IP/IPX
filtering ensure that transactions are secure.
Whether information is sent from ATM machines
or teller terminals, your customers' business
always stays private. |
