Q   What is the Quick II?
A The QUICK II™ TermRouter™ is a combination legacy protocol converter, terminal server, and router built into a single platform.

Q   How do I define a new telnet station in the mainframe?
A A telnet station is automatically added when the terminal makes a connection. Line and Terminal attributes previously entered in NAU (CP2000) or IDC (DLPs) are maintained in the Quick II unit.

Q   Why is my station on the MARC WINDOW when I have specified otherwise in COMS UTILITY?
A Verify that the Unisys Telnet option is PSH = False. Any other option will interfere with the default window.

Q   My Quick II says a station is connected. Why doesn't COMS STATUS show it as attached?
A NAMES is False, and the COM STATION NAME is prefixed with the Quick II's IP address. For example: IP10_1_1_1/P0001 instead of P0001.

Q   How do I prevent MARC screens and messages from going to my printers, sorters, ATMs, proof machines, etc. when they connect?
A

Unisys Telnet uses COMS UTILITY DEVICE TYPES to control these messages.

You must have a DEVICE TYPE LIST (DTL) called MARC This list must contain DEFAULT DEVICE. All devices in this list will get logon screens, others will not. Create a new DEVICE TYPE for your device such as PRINTER, or SORTER. Assign this DEVICE TYPE to any STATION to suppress logon screens.

Q   I cannot get the PC that is running through the Quick Frame Relay port to go through the firewall and out to an ISP. What should I do?
A In Remote Quick, put the ISP router's address in the def_rem_route parameter.

Q   Terminals near the end of a TDI line are dropping out.
A

Follow the procedure below:

bullet  Verify that the Quick II is directly connected to the terminal or if it is being routed through a broadcaster or splitter. If another device is connected directly to the Quick II, the problem may be in the wiring, in the terminal, or in the Quick. II itself. bullet  Check the settings in the terminal to ensure that the receive delay is set to zero. Change the CTS to 5 msecs and set the RTS hold to zero. bullet  Try increasing the transmit delay in the Quick Poll Select port to 10 msecs.

Q   The message, "Please close your telnet session. Establishment detection error detected" appears on the Poll Select terminal when I press "transmit." What do I do?
A You must add stations into Comms to allow them to come up under telnet. Remove the stations from the DCPLP.
