Dulles,
VA. February 13, 2003 – Encore
Networks, a leading developer of integrated
network security products, today announced
the addition of a suite of Expansion Modules
for its popular BANDIT™ family of Virtual
Private Network (VPN) security appliances.
The Expansion Modules broaden the addressable
market where Encore products can be used
by service providers and enterprises to deploy
cost-effective data VPN solutions for remote
offices, telecommuters, and branch offices.
With a starting list
price of $350, the Expansion Modules can
be factory installed or purchased separately
and field upgraded as needed. The modules,
listed below, can be ordered now and will
be available by the end of Q1. |
|
| 56K DSU Module |
Provides
a clear migration path from Frame Relay to
IPsec VPN solutions without a forklift upgrade.
This allows the BANDIT™ to act as either
a FRAD device, an IP VPN router, or both. |
|
| Ethernet Module |
Adds security
to Corporate Intranets by giving the BANDIT™ the
ability to have a dedicated Ethernet port
that can be used as a DMZ port, providing
protection to Intranet enterprise networks
via robust, built-in dynamic firewall and
stateful inspection capabilities. It can also
be connected to external standalone IDS or
firewall systems. |
|
| Universal Serial
Port Module |
Provides
a migration path from legacy protocols to
IP VPNs for key vertical markets like Travel,
Insurance, and Banking. The module increases
the total number of serial ports available
on the BANDIT™ to two — one can
be used as a WAN port while the second can
be used to connect to legacy systems. It also
supports international variants of physical
interfaces to address requirements of international
markets with legacy infrastructures. |
|
| T1/E1 CSU Module |
Adds cost-effective
broadband access solutions that eliminate
the need for an external router or CSU while
meeting increased bandwidth requirements to
connect remote and branch offices to the corporate
network. The flexible design of the module
supports different configurations, such as
fractional T1/E1, channelized T1/E1, and full
T1/E1. |
|
| 2 Port T1/E1
CSU Module with Full Drop and Insert Capability |
| This module allows the BANDIT™ to
act as an IAD (Integrated Access Device) where
voice traffic coming from PBX public internet
IP traffic and corporate data VPN traffic share
the same broadband access link to carriers
networks.
"Our continued development of enhanced
features and additional hardware will accelerate
the growth of and expand the total addressable
market for our entire VPN product line," said
Abir Hnidi, Encore Vice President and Chief
Technology Officer. "The new modules
increase the overall security, flexibility,
and resiliency of highly distributed enterprise
networks, and helps with the migration
from frame based to IP broadband based
networks." |
