Encore Networks Delivers Release 3 of Its ELIOS™ Operating System

ELIOS™ 3.0 Provides Major IP+Legacy VPN Application Enhancements for Both Enterprise Customers and Service Providers

Dulles, VA. June 3, 2003 – Encore Networks, a leading developer of integrated IP+Legacy Virtual Private Network (VPN) security solutions, today announced the latest release of its leading IP operating system software, ELIOS™ 3.0. The ELIOS™ 3.0 release supports a common feature set across all Encore Networks platforms, including the recently announced BANDIT-Plus™, a high performance, multi-service IP+Legacy VPN host solution.

With its significant new enhancements, the ELIOS™ 3.0 operating system software is designed as both a money saver for enterprise customers and as a revenue generator for service providers. Enterprise customers will be able to use ELIOS™ 3.0 to leverage their embedded installation base and allow for a smooth and seamless migration from legacy applications (bisync, poll-select, SCADA, SDLC, SNA, etc.) to broadband IP VPN services. Carriers will be able to converge their different legacy packet networks (Analog, X.25, FR) over a single core IP network. Also, ELIOS™ 3.0 enables them to penetrate additional markets by offering managed, next generation multi-service applications over a single network connection such as voice, data, security, and VPNs.

ELIOS™ 3.0 features:

Enhanced IP VPN Service Offering
Includes improved stateful inspection and dynamic firewall implementation, support of GRE tunneling and dynamic NAT over IPsec

IP QOS Offering
Includes traffic prioritization, priority queuing, packet classification, and tagging, based on types of applications

Termination of TDM and VoIP
Includes the termination of TDM voice via drop and Insert functionality, as well as the transport and the prioritization of VoIP traffic over any interface using Diffserv

Enhanced List of IP+Legacy VPN Applications
Expands Encore's IP+Legacy addressable markets to include Utility, Lottery, Satellite, and Banking

Manageability and Service Provisioning
Includes Support of DHCP Server and client, Private Address Translation (PrAT) for ease of IP address management and provisioning, secure remote access via IPsec over PPP, and improved plug-and-play configuration options

Availability and Redundancy
Includes auto dial back-up and network fail over via any LAN or WAN interface

“I am very pleased with our record of delivering high quality, timely software releases, which raises the bar in terms of the carriers' ability to provide secure, multi-service solutions,” stated Abir Hnidi, Chief Technology Officer of Encore Networks. “The consistency and high quality of features in our ELIOS™ software allows customers to upgrade quickly, taking advantage of Encore’s industry leading IP+Legacy VPN solutions.”
