Dulles,
VA. July 20, 2005 – Encore
Networks, a developer of Virtual Private
Network (VPN) security solutions, today announced
that Italian service provider Netdish, has
deployed Encore’s VSR-30™ broadband
IP+Legacy routers to provide satellite backup
for terrestrial VPNs and private networks
in remote locations throughout Europe. If
a terrestrial connection becomes unavailable,
the network is automatically switched to
a satellite link via the VSR-30™ with
no transmission delay.
Headquartered in Padova, Italy, Netdish
is a provider of network infrastructure
that offers satellite connectivity solutions,
based on accelerator modem products from
both iDirect and ViaSat, over both private
and public networks. Netdish is the first
satellite network in the North of Italy,
aimed at interconnecting the European IP
backbone with the emerging markets of the
Mediterranean, the Balkans, Eastern Europe,
the Middle East and North Africa.
“Netdish has defined and overcome
the challenges of providing converged,
satellite based communications to geographical
areas with inadequate or unreliable network
services,” said Chris Orriss, Encore
Networks European Director of Sales. “They
have opened new markets by deploying broadband
VPN solutions to locations previously unable
to take advantage of reliable, secure networking,
and we are excited to be a part of it.”
Encore Network’s VSR-30™ enables
satellite users requiring secure end-to-end
connections, to realize the full potential
of their limited satellite bandwidth without
the performance degradation associated
with traditional IPsec VPN products. Through
the use of exclusive patent pending Selective
Layer Encryption (SLE™), the VSR-30™ provides
channel efficient VPN solutions across
Performance Enhancement Proxy (PEP) based
accelerated satellite networks and seamlessly
connects to terrestrial VPN networks without
the need to decrypt and switch traffic
at the satellite hub.
“The secure, end-to-end functionality
of Encore’s VSR-30 directly address
the high performance demands of broadband
satellite networks, and provides immediate
access when a terrestrial link has unexpectedly
gone down,” stated Federico Masier,
Netdish Chief Operation Officer. “Our
customers who need encryption for sensitive
data, no matter the location, are ensured
uninterrupted, secure network access.”
