Dulles,
VA January 12, 2004 - Encore Networks,
a leading developer of integrated IP+Legacy Virtual
Private Network (VPN) security solutions,
today announced that RAMTelecom has selected
Encore's complete line of BANDIT™ security
appliances for their satellite network solutions
throughout Canada. This will allow users
to create end-to-end VPN's across both satellite
and terrestrial networks.
"The search for
a VPN appliance that compensates for the
inherent latency of satellite networks
and works across the Internet appears to
be over", states Ralph Misener, President
of RAMTelecom. "The BANDIT™ has
been certified in our laboratory, and we
are pleased to add it as a stand-alone
solution within our managed security service.
We are confident that the BANDIT™ will
meet both the stringent requirements of
the Canadian Government and of our large
corporate clients."
Headquartered in Ottawa,
RAMTelecom is one of Canada's leading providers
of high-speed satellite Internet services
to remote communities and the Canadian
Federal Government.
"Given Canada's
size and number of remote communities,
it is not surprising to see a Canadian
company taking the lead in deploying products
that can provide end-to-end secure remote
access over satellite and terrestrial connections," stated
John Craig, Canadian Director of Sales
for Encore Networks. "With RAMTelecom's
experience and understanding of the challenges
providing satellite-based communications
to remote areas, defining and delivering
bundled broadband VPN solutions over satellite
networks is becoming a reality."
Encore Networks' BANDIT™ enables
satellite users, requiring secure access,
to realize the full potential of their
limited satellite bandwidth without the
performance degradation associated with
off-the-shelf VPN products. Through the
use of our exclusive patent pending breakthrough
Selective Layer Encryption (SLE™),
Encore Networks can provide channel efficient
VPN solutions across Performance Enhancement
Proxy (PEP) based accelerated satellite
networks and seamlessly connect to terrestrial
VPN networks without the need to decrypt
and switch traffic at the satellite hub.
Mr. Craig continued, "With
the formation of the new Canadian Ministry
of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness,
mirroring the office of Homeland Security
in the United States, the applicability
of Encore's offering is key to the security
and privacy of public services in Canada."
Encore Networks also
combines IP+Legacy capabilities
in its BANDIT™ directly
addressing the secure remote access needs
of Canada's financial institutions, oil
and gas drilling enterprises, remote weather
monitoring and utilities.
Mr. Misener concluded, "RAMTelecom
sees key functionality in the BANDIT™ line
of products to connect remote "Last
Generation" Datapac, X.25, SCADA,
lottery, airline reservation, SNA, Bisync,
SDLC and ATM networks to run securely over
satellite networks and into Internet connected
data processing centers. We are very pleased
with the versatility of the Encore Networks BANDIT™" |
