Each compressed
zip file contains multiple files and an index
directory that work together as a fully functioning
online document, once downloaded and decompressed.
To take advantage of the cross-file book search
feature enabled in these documents, you must
use Acrobat Reader 4.0 with Search. If you
already have a version of Acrobat Reader that
does not include search installed on your
PC, you must first uninstall it. Download
the Acrobat installation file appropriate
for your operating system, then follow the
installation instructions provided with the
Reader to install it on your local drive.
USING
THE DOCUMENTATION FILES
You can download
entire sets of documentation for both
the Signaling and Broadband Access products,
or you can download individual books.
Once you download and unzip the selected
file, you have the documentation associated
with the desired topic right on your
own hard drive. Double click the masterdoc.pdf file
if you downloaded the entire documentation
set, or the docstart_xxx.pdf file
if you downloaded a single book. The Masterdoc page
provides links to all of the product
pages available for the type of products
you selected. The Docstart pages
display the manuals associated with
the selected topic and their top-level
tables of contents. Selecting a chapter
file opens the index associated with
the topic, and you can use the hypertext
and search features to navigate between
files in the manuals.
IMPORTANT
NOTE: the Masterdoc buttons
at the bottom of each page work only when
you download the entire documentation package,
which includes the masterdoc.pdf file.
The TOC buttons, also positioned on each
page, take you to the detailed table of
contents for the currently displayed book.
Intrafile
and interfile hyperlinking allow you to
go immediately to a cross-reference within
the same chapter, a different chapter,
or a different book. Hyperlinks are usually
identified by blue underlined text. You
simply click on the text to go to the cross-referenced
destination. (Note: hyperlinking is also
enabled in the tables of contents, but
without blue underlines. In a table of
contents, click on the desired entry.)
The
Acrobat Reader search function allows
you to perform a global text string search
throughout all documents within a topic.
To perform a search, click on the Search
button located on the Acrobat Reader top
toolbar (represented by the "binoculars
and document" icon), and provide
the term or phrase you want to find. The
search function will provide a list of
documents, along with the percentage of
pertinence, that contain the designated
text string. For further instructions
on how to use the advanced features of
Acrobat Search, refer to the Acrobat Reader Help document. |
